Andrew Koep Selected for Team Alberta in Western Canada U-16 Challenge Cup Tournament

October 17, 2012

Turning Point Sports Management wishes to congratulate client Andrew Koep, 15, who has been selected to participate in Hockey Canada’s and Hockey Alberta’s prestigious Western Canada Challenge Cup. Koep, from Lloydminster, currently plays for the Lloydminster Midget AAA team in the Albert Midget League.

Koep was selected in the second round of the WHL Bantam Draft this past May by the Edmonton Oil Kings of the WHL after an outstanding season with the Lloydminster Heat Bantam AAA team. Koep was signed by the Oil Kings just prior to training camp this fall, and played in several exhibition games for the club in early September prior to being assigned to his Midget team.

Turning Point Western Talent Advisor Jay Walker stated that “Andrew has continued to progress and has done everything he can to improve day in and day out as a player. He is a very skilled and highly motivated player, and frankly I am not surprised that he was selected to play for this elite team.”

Koep will play in the tournament, to be held this year in Calgary from November 1st through November 4th. Last year, goaltender Jonny Hogue, another Turning Point client, represented Team Alberta as they won the Western Canada U-16 Challenge Cup Tournament which was held in Moose Jaw at the new Mosaic Place.

Turning Point is pleased to continue to monitor Andrew’s progress this season and he continues down the path towards becoming the best player that he can be, and wishes Andrew the best of luck as he represents Team Alberta in the upcoming tourney.
