The Western Hockey League nominated Lethbridge Hurricanes Goalie Ty Rimmer for the CHL Goaltender of the Week this past week. Rimmer has started all 17 games the Hurricanes have played this season and this past week, the 20-year old veteran netminder posted a 3-1-0-0 record with one shutout in which he made 37 saves. In the 4 games played this week, the native of Edmonton, AB stopped 119 of 124 shots faced for a 0.960 save-percentage and 1.25 goals-against average and on Friday night against Regina, his 10th save in that game gave him 500 saves on the season making him the first goalie in the entire CHL to reach the 500 save milestone. Rimmer currently sits 3rd among all WHL goaltenders with a 0.921 save-percentage.
“It’s an honor to be nominated and I hope that I am selected. A lot of credit has to go to my teammates as well,” said Rimmer when contacted by Turning Point after his nomination for the prestigious honor.

Unfortunately, the OHL nominated goaltender took home the prize. Rimmer has had an outstanding start to this season, as he has backstopped the Hurricanes to their best October record in the past three years, and where they currently sit in 4th place in the Eastern Conference playoff standings. Turning Point congratulates Ty on his great start to the year, and looks forward to seeing him continue his stellar play as the season rolls along!
